The North American Porcupine is a large rodent that lives in North America. It is extremely slow, but that is not a problem for this rodent, it has incredible defense. It has long special hairs that protect them from predators. Once threaten it will gnaw its teeth, then shake its fur and if they will not back off they will swing there tail at the predator and the predator will have a mouth or nose full of quills. The North American porcupine quills have barbs on the tip of its quills so that it is hard to take out of the skin. It ate plants on the ground, roots, leaves and so on, it prefers to live in trees away from prey. Its main predator to adults is the Fisher. As for babies owls and eagles, they will prey on them.
